Genesis Chamber Ensemble

Prom Recitals is proud to present an extraordinary afternoon with the Genesis Chamber Ensemble at the Fish Creek Memorial Hall - the final concert in their 2025 series.

The musicians of Genesis bring the elegance and energy of past centuries vividly to life. Each concert is an unforgettable experience. In this special program the Ensemble performs two iconic works.

Franz Schubert – String Quartet No.14 in D minor, Death and the Maiden. Written in 1824 as Schubert grappled with illness and mortality, this quartet is considered one of the great pillars of chamber music. Its title comes from a haunting song he composed in 1817.

Ludwig van Beethoven – String Quartet Op.18, No.1. The Second Movement is said to depict the tomb scene from Romeo and Juliet, this movement is filled with poignancy, beauty, and dramatic tension.

Bringing these masterpieces to life are Concertmaster Anna McMichael with Jennifer Kirsner and Meg Cohen, and Josephine Vains.
