Where the Ocean Resets You
The first thing you notice at Cape Woolamai isn’t the view - it’s the feeling.
It might start with sunrise on the headland, standing above the cliffs as the sky shifts to soft pinks and deep oranges. Or with that first coffee at a local favourite like Cottosloe, watching the day slowly come to life. Down on the beach, surfers paddle out, while others take to the Cape Woolamai Coastal Walk, where the Pinnacles rise from the sea and the views stretch endlessly across Bass Strait.
From above, the landscape opens up even further. A scenic flight with Island Helicopters reveals the full sweep of coastline - rugged cliffs, rolling surf and deep blue ocean - while on the water, guided tours with Pioneer Kayaking and Wildlife Coast Cruises bring you closer, past sea caves and hidden inlets carved into the headland.
Back in the village, the pace remains unhurried. Lunch might be something simple from The Pantry, a toastie or açai bowl from the laid‑back Float, or café favourites from Burnt Toast or Hidden Nook. As evening settles in, local favourites like The Wooli Tavern and Bang Bang offer great food and a relaxed coastal energy that carries into the night.
Nature is never far away. Wallabies frequent the cliffs and birdlife is abundant - including the return of short‑tailed shearwaters each year. Then, between May and September, whales trace the coastline, a quiet reminder that this place moves to its own rhythm.
As the day winds down, it might end the way it began - outside, watching the light soften and the ocean roll in.
That’s the beauty of Cape Woolamai.
It doesn’t try to impress - it simply gives you space to move, breathe and reset.
