Just a 45-minute drive from Melbourne's city centre, discover the astonishing beauty and diversity of more than 170,000 individual native plants at the Cranbourne Gardens. You will find them displayed in settings that capture the essence of Australia's diverse landscape from the Red Centre to the coastal fringes.
The Australian Garden comprises 11 precincts and facilities including a visitor kiosk at the northern end of the garden, boardwalks and viewing platforms on Howson and Gibson Hills, and an amphitheater for education programs and performances.
It is a place where you can explore the evolving connections between people, plants and landscapes. The Australian Garden is also a place where you can discover inspiration and information about how to use Australian plants in your garden.
Tours, activities and programs in the Australian Garden provide a range of informative and exciting experiences for visitors of all ages. Take a ride on The Explorer to discover this amazing 15-hectare garden. For a small fee you can hop on and off as you please.
From the Australian Garden, head into the bushland and picnic areas or visit the Gardens Shop, Boon Wurrung Cafe or Kiosk.

Directions
The best way to travel to the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne is by car or private coach.
From Melbourne, drive down the Monash Freeway and then turn off at the South Gippsland Highway.
Signs will be for Cranbourne and Phillip Island. Drive through the town of Cranbourne, and on the southern side, there are tourism signs pointing to the turn-off for the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne and the Australian Garden.
This trip will take approximately 50 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.
